The Projects I worked on for Califonia RampWorks in 2009

Here are some of the bad-ass projects I was lucky enough to work on in 2009.

California RampWorks has given me the opportunity to grow as a Skatepark Designer, Graphic Artist, and Web Content Manager.

Harmony Festival

Good Lord! This weekend was like Woodstock meets the Warped Tour, but cooler.

For me, getting to be backstage with Bad Brains and the Dead Kennedy’s was rad, but the week as a whole was pretty intense.

The Harmony Festival was in Santa Rosa, California June 10-12, 2009

Nitro Circus

I wish I could show more pics, but we were told to keep quiet or we would be knee-capped!

Last month, our entire crew (California Ramp Works) went out to Los Angeles to set up a gap for Travis Pastrana 80ft in the air, from rooftop to rooftop of the American Apparel Buildings.

This is a good shot of Travis Pastrana getting a quick shot before he heads to the roof.

Here, I am standing on the top of the landing ramp showing how much room he has to stop before he flys over the edge, 8 stories!

Here is a side view to give you some sort of perspective...wait till you see what Travis pulls over the Gap!

Mini Mega Ramp at ASR

This years ASR trade show in San Diego was a clear reflection of the worlds economic slowdown, experiencing extremely low vendor and retailer attendance, nearly 1/3 the size of previous years. Despite the record low’s, the crew at California Ramp Works, California Skateparks, and Mega Ramp Events were able to draw the masses from across the convention center with the unveiling of their newest show piece, the Mini-Mega.

        p. Edwin           p. Edwin
The Min-Mega was designed, built, tested, ripped apart, rebuilt, tested, and dialed in Upland, CA thanks to the crew of expert riders including Bob Burnquist, PLG, Buster Halterman, Jake Brown, and Adam Taylor, to name a few, as well as the seasoned designers from at California Ramp Works and California Skateparks, who put in the sweat equity necessary to create such a well-engineered ramp.

                                                 p. Dug
This ramp is called the “Mini” mega, existing just under 1/2 scale of its big brother, the Mega Ramp as seen on the X Games for the past few years and around the world, but don’t let the name fool you, there is nothing mini about this set-up.  The drop-in is still a staggering 30′, with a 25′ gap, that rolls you into an 18′ Quarter pipe! And for safety reasons, is invite only.

          p. Edwin                                                         p. Edwin

CA Ramp Works also added a newly fabricated rainbow rail that was proven to be spot on by our riders. After PLG dialed in the heights and angles, Bob, Adam, Buster, and Zach Miller killed it.
I think T-Mag was out there throwing down for the legends.

                                                     Dylan Taylor
                                                 p. Dug

                                                 p. Edwin
Bottom Line-
No one could walk by the ramp without stopping and staring. Its an amazing ramp that facilitates the worlds best skaters. And having a free beer garden every day at 4:30 never hurt!
See you at the next event
